Life of a 15-Year-Old Fashion Darling

Move over Donatella Versace, there's a new fashion diva in town. Kira Plastinina, budding designer, has recently been receiving buzz throughout the fashion world. So why the hype? Well, at 15 years old, the fashion designer from Russia already has over 40 stores -- from Russia to the U.S. -- and plans for hundreds more. So who is this mini-mogul? Click through and find out.

As children, people often dream of what they want to be when they grow up. Some people want to be firemen, some people want to be doctors. Later in life, these dreams are often dropped. For Kira Plastinina, however, not following through on her fashion dreams was never an option, and with help from her multimillionaire, dairy-producer father, Sergei Plastinina, her dreams are becoming a reality.

Though Plastinina only opened her first U.S. store in May 2008, her fashion shows have already been attended by the likes of Paris Hilton. The mini-mogul has plans to open 50 more stores within the next three years, but her ultimate goal is much more lofty: 250 U.S. shows and a spot in New York Fashion Week.

Plastinina isn't just looking to create a fashion line -- she's aiming for an empire. Not only does she design clothes and bathing suits, but she's also moved on to shoes, bags and a signature perfume.

The fifteen-year-old has even chosen a signature color: pink. A bright, nearly neon shade of pink. She has created a special piece of furniture that is to be featured in each store -- a round couch in a shade of -- what else? -- pink.

The New "It" Girl

But Plastinina is more than just a designer, she's a new "it" girl. She has been featured in publications from "New York Magazine," to "Teen Vogue," to the "LA Times," and was followed by MTV cameras ' the ultimate sign of stardom -- for a Russian special "A Day in the Life with Kira."

Cute and Affordable

Though Plastinina will inevitably be compared to other young "it" girl designers, unlike lines such as the Lauren Conrad Collection, her clothing is fairly affordable. Her pieces cost an average of $48, making it accessible to the average teen.

Equestrian Chic

Since committing herself to fashion, Plastinina has had to give up other extracurricular activities, like dancing. She still enjoys riding, however, and even owns her own horse. Her has clearly been influenced by equestrian style if this photo is any indication.

Little Surfer Girl

Though she has not been in the U.S. for a very long time, her clothes have a decidedly L.A. vibe to them, featuring minidresses, short-shorts and surfing inspired styles. Plastinina officially moved to L.A. this past summer, where she spends much of her time on the beach.

Plastinina remains very involved in the entire design process. She is chief designer, and it's up to her to approve sketches and select the fabrics that will be used to create her original designs.

Though they say all press is good press, not everything that has been written about Plastinina has been favorable. Many consider the comparisons to Paris Hilton to be less than flattering, and "The Huffington Post" posted an article about Plastinina entitled "The World's Most Spoiled 15-Year-Old?"

The bad buzz does not appear to trouble the young designer, though. She considers Paris to be a perfectly acceptable role model, calling her "sweet" and "fun," and thus far has remained the bubbly, girly teenager she was when she arrived.

In fact, in many ways, Plastinina is indistinguishable from the average American girl. She still attends high school, maintains a MySpace page and admits to loving both "Gossip Girl" and MTV's "The Hills."

Most teen girls, however, cannot actually call "The Hills'" Audrina Patridge a friend. Plastinina actually contacted the reality star when she first arrived in L.A. and convinced her to be a brand ambassador of her line. Patridge, who is now accustomed to dealing with the paparazzi and other prices of fame, is also able to give Plastinina advice on how to deal with newfound notoriety.

Most teen girls also probably did not have a Sweet Sixteen/launch party featuring celebrity guests and a performance by a music superstar. But Plastinina's 16th birthday party was attended by Romeo, Tara Reid and Audrina Patridge. R&B star Chris Brown also performed for guests at the pink and white themed fete.

Only the Beginning...

Though Plastinina has already taken L.A. by storm, she has no intention of stopping there. With plans to attend fashion school in London or New York, it's safe to say we probably have not seen the last of this budding designer.
