The term Black Friday has nothing to do with skin color. Merchants call the day after Thanksgiving black Friday because it's the biggest shopping day of the year. I believe accountants still record a negative balance in red and a positive balance in black. The businesses who haven't been making money are in the red or have a negative or minus balance. That one shopping day usually takes a companie balance from being in the red to black, or from a minus to a plus balance. Haven't you ever heard of the January White Sale?
