25 Most Dangerous Neighborhoods

 Most Dangerous Neighborhoods Intro AOL

Your Odds of Being a Victim

Why neighborhoods and not cities? Even the cities with the highest crime rates can have relatively safe neighborhoods, and thus it is less useful to generalize about an entire city. But using exclusive data developed by Dr. Schiller at NeighborhoodScout.com, and based on FBI data from all 17,000 local law enforcement agencies, our gallery counts down the 25 neighborhoods with the highest predicted rates of violent crime in America.

I'm sitting here reading these comments and don't know whether to laugh or cry. I lived in this exact neighborhood for 3 years. 2005-2008. Based on statistics, yes, it is a dangerous area. However, sometimes it's all someone can afford. I held a stable job, working 40+ hours a week, was a full time college student, and have 2 children (at the time. I now have 3). However, that area was all we could afford. My husband has a hard time finding a job because he is a convicted felon, and eventhough his last conviction was back in 1998, he still has a hard time finding a job. It's a sad, depressing area to live in, based on the economical aspect. But, I can tell you this - I learned more about what it means to have good neighbors while living there, than while growing up in my middle-upper class white neighborhood (I am white, husband is black). One thing I can say about living in that neighborhood is that people looked out for us, and we looked out for them. Not everyone in that area is a criminal, or a drug addict.

In Orlando, that neighborhood is right next to the new Amway Arena. Isn't that great?!?! So if you go to watch a Magic game, or see a show there once it opens...you might want to have some sort of weapon on you. Stupidly, while Orlando was doing construction on I-4, they actually sent motorists down that area.

what math genius played with the data? go live in sacramento west of franklin, south of florin. don't remember the name of the project in joliet. east side, one way in, one way out. compton, oakland are on the city list. break it down to the neighborhoods. ford hts, chgo hts IL
seems to me there are still some areas of DC worthy of the list.
lol, i'd start with congress

I'm from Atlanta, and we had nothing in city or neighborhood. Mayor Franklin did a pretty fair job on the crime front with limited funds.
