Okay, a few weeks ago here in Sacramento there was a police roadblock checking for unlicensed/uninsured/drunk drivers, and while I was waiting in the line with everyone else the driver and the passengers with him behind me started getting reallly nervous...they started stuffing things under the seat like crazy and the driver switched seats with the back passenger....anyway the one exit road before you are contacted by officers was blocked off with cones, and right as the officer walks up to my car, and car behind me peels out 0 to 100 in five seconds, almost hits my car, runs flat over the cones, and disappears into the night. 'Course, the officer who was supposed to walk up to my window gets on his radio really fast and runs away, which delayed me getting through the roadblock for another ten minutes. Finally, he walks up to my car, asks for my license, and says, 'Didja see that?!' Uh-huh. 'That was crazy!' Uh-huh. He was probably a rookie, XD. He was so excited.

I am retired now but I put in 40 years in the fire service. I worked for the Orange County Fire Authority in California. I responded to many weird and funny and too many tragically bad accidents. One still haunts me where a man while talking on his cell phone crashed into the back end of a car waiting to make a left hand turn. The two boys, ages 4 and 6 burned to death, their parents suffered 3rd degree burns over 80 per cent of their bodies and the mother succomed to her burns 5 weeks later. Only the father survived but is not horribly scarred and mourns for his family daily. So, if you see some retired fireman screaming at the top of his lungs at drivers talking on cell phones or texting have a little compassion. Cell phones kill!
