Get a free one-year subscription to Maxim magazine when you sign up for Rewards Gold, an online rewards program where you can earn points for filling out surveys, testing products, entering sweepstakes, and making purchases at partner sites like Nordstrom or Macys. Then you can redeem your points for prizes or rewards.

Signing up for the free magazine means sharing your name, address, e-mail, gender, dob, education level, occupation, and marital status. You also have to answer two questions about your Internet usage. No credit card is needed.

You'll get 250 points for joining and another 250 for referring someone else who signs up. I joined this network a while ago to get a free subscription to Forbes, which just put out its "Billionaires -- the world's richest people" issue, also known as the "rich men with bad hair" issue.

Sign up for a do-it-herself painting workshop at Home Depot on April 15, 2010, and get special access to coupons and offers. The workshop runs from 7-8:30 p.m. local time and features interior painting tips from Martha Stewart Living. Click on the image at right to sign up.

Do-it-herself workshops are geared toward women who want to learn in a "comfortable group environment." about fixing up their home. I think that's code for ladies only.

The registration form asks for your name, address, and email. You can also sign up for the Home Improver club, which has how-to videos and project ideas tied to your local weekend weather, which is bizarre, but also kinda cool.

Get a free one-night movie rental from Blockbuster Express with coupon code GA13B1. This coupon code expires Wednesday, March 24. Get another free movie rental by signing up for their e-mail newsletter. The rentals are otherwise $1 a night.

You can also use coupon code MARCH to get a buy-one-get-one free rental through the end of the month.

Each Tuesday the movie rental boxes are restocked with new releases. You don't have to have a membership to use Blockbuster Express, just a credit card. You can also reserve a rental online, then pick it up at one of their kiosks.

While you can access the form without friending Vaska, the freebies are only for Facebook fans so you might not get a free sample unless you do both steps. If the second link does not work for you, go to Vaska's Facebook page to get the link.

The freebie form asks for your name, email, and address. One sample per person per address. Give it a few weeks to arrive because apparently they are receiving a lot of requests.

According to the Vaska Facebook Info page, Herbatergent is a "liquid laundry detergent that uses real lavender and potent botanical cleaning agents to clean your clothing and linens effectively, but without harmful chemicals." The Berkeley-based company develops cleaners that use herbs and do not harm the planet.

Get a free photobook worth $40 from Picaboo, a site that helps make photobooks from your digital pictures much like Snapfish and MyPublisher. T

The coupon does not expire until Dec. 31, 2010 but you have to be a new customer to qualify. (If you are an existing Picaboo customer, get a free book when you buy one book with coupon code BGFMAR, good until March 31).

Click on the above link and submit your e-mail address to get the coupon code, then download Picaboo's photobook-making software. Upload your pics and create an album. Use coupon code AFFLGB when checking out.

Even if you're not sick or fighting a cold, you may have a use for the vitamin-rich powder packets known as Emergen-C. How so? Mixed drinks!

At least that's what the maker of Emergen-C wants you to think. The manufacturer is giving away free samples of Emergen-C (while supplies last) with drink recipes so you can make beverages - virgin or not - with their mixes.

The four drinks they suggest making with their vitamin packets are Maui Wowees, BLUE Tinis, Pucker Up Parfaits, and Pretty in Pink Hot Teas.

I've never mixed Emergen-C with anything but water, but I am open to trying. Are you?

Get a free pen from Uni-Ball with super ink when you fill out a form and share your name, address, and e-mail. You can opt in or out of Uni Ball's e-mail list.

The pen takes 3-6 weeks to arrive and the contest ends April 30 or when 500,000 pens have been given out. The site only gives out 10,000 free pens daily so either try early or come back the next day.

Uni Ball claims the Jetstream retractable pen's "super ink" helps prevent check fraud by forming an unbreakable bond with paper fibers so criminals can't "chemically erase your important documents." Who knows? The pen retails for about $3 so I'm willing to try.

Caveats: valid only in the 48 contiguous United States and District of Columbia. No purchase necessary. You must be 18 or older. Limit one (request per person and per email address.
