Fantastic Freebies: DVDs from RedBox

Every day, WalletPop will be bringing you information about a fantastic freebie. Like what you see? Check back tomorrow for more!

Redboxes -- those little kiosks in the grocery store offering the newest DVDs for $1 per night -- are an awesome alternative to Blockbuster: more convenient and less expensive.

The only thing that could make Redbox better would be not having to pay $1 per night and, amazingly, that's actually possible. InsideRedbox has codes, updated daily, that you simply type in when you go to rent a DVD and you won't be charged. The catch is that, if you keep the DVD for more than the 1-day rental, you will still have to pay $1 for each extra day.

Just scroll down the page and find a code with a high success rate. Write down a few before you head to the grocery store in case one of them has expired.

Free DVD rentals from RedBox

To me, the best Daily Deal is a free Daily Deal -- That's why I most recently wrote about Wal-Mart's free samples.

Standing in line at a RedBox DVD rental kiosk on Thursday night, a wonderful lady told me that when I went to pay for the DVD, I should enter the promotional code "SHOP" to get the DVD for free. Sure enough, it worked.

Curious about this, I got on Google and found insideredbox.com, which has loads of codes for each state. My suggestion: write down a few in case the first one doesn't work, and you should be able to get your DVD for free. Of course, if you keep it more than a day, you'll have to pay $1extra.

But if you have the discipline, you should be able to get free DVD rentals for as long as Redbox runs these promotions.

Now that's a daily deal.
