Free Redbox movie rental

Filed under: Fantastic Freebies, Bargain Babe

Get a free one-night movie rental from Redbox with code SPNSV9, good through Wednesday, Dec. 2. Rentals are normally $1 a night from Redboxes, which you can find in chain grocery and drug stores.

Freebies 4 Mom also reports that the following three free rental codes are working: DVDONME, BREAKROOM, and DVDATWAG. The last one works only at Walgreens. You can also get a free rental by signing up for text message alerts from Redbox or if you are a new customer.

The selection varies by machine and is nowhere near as extensive as say, Blockbuster or Netflix, but it will do in a pinch. Browse available titles, including Night at the Museum 2, End Game, and All She Wants for Christmas. Find a Redbox near you.

Thanks Freebies 4 Mom!

$5 off and free shipping on Entertainment Book

Filed under: Fantastic Freebies, Bargain Babe

Entertainment Book 2010Get $5 off and free shipping on the Entertainment Book, a thick book of 2-for-1 coupons that has local editions for major cities across the country.

As a Cyber Monday bonus all books are 30% off. Holy cow!

The price varies by edition but generally start at about $15. Some are as much as $40.

If you've never bought an Entertainment Book, it's a good idea to first check out the coupons included in your local edition. You can do this by finding your local edition then clicking on A-Z Index for a list of participating retailers. A lot of the deals are for restaurants but there are also deals for attractions and grocery stores.

When I bought the book a few years ago, there were great coupons but not at places I frequented. Still, I made my money back by using it just twice.

The calender normally sells for $15. You get to choose from one of 18 designs, you can add your own photos for each month and start your calender on any month (not just January). Great for yourself or as a holiday gift!

Free sample of Avril Lavigne 'Black Star' perfume

Maybe you were surprised to hear that the young rock singer/songwriter cum punk rock princess Avril Lavigne has her own perfume line. Punk rock and perfume aren't two words that blend in beautiful harmony, after all. What was Johnny Rotten's favorite scent, after all? Eau de vomit, perhaps.

I digress. Lavigne recently released a new scent called Black Star, which contains, according to her website, notes of pink hibiscus, black plum and dark chocolate. Sounds delicious, anyway.

You can order yourself a sample by filling out this online form.

Ah, the sweet smell of success.

Free sample of Stacy's pita chips

Filed under: Food, Fantastic Freebies, Bargain Babe

One of my favorite snacks is dipping these crispy pita chips into garlic humus. Mmmmm....tasty.

Get a free sample of Stacy's Simply Naked Pita Chips from All You magazine when you share a little info about yourself. They mail you the sample in 4-6 weeks, so be patient.

They encourage you to sign up for their e-newsletters but it is not required, just remember to uncheck the boxes as you fill out the form.

This freebie won't last so sign up soon if you're interested. A limited number of samples are available.

Rite Aid $4 off $20 coupon and freebie!

Filed under: Fantastic Freebies, Bargain Babe

Here's an even better coupon for your next trip to Rite Aid. Get $4 off a purchase of $20 (prescriptions don't count) when you bring this coupon into the store. Expires Nov. 21, 2009. In store only.

Caveats: Not valid on purchase of prescriptions, prescription co-pays, Medicare or Medicaid prescriptions, lottery tickets, tobacco, alcohol products, money orders, gift cards, stamps, licenses, or other mailing series. Cannot be combined with other offers. Sales tax does not count toward the $20.

The above link also has a coupon for $2 off any Rite Aid brand over-the-counter medication that costs at least $2. That means if you find an over the counter medication for $2, it is free! It's unclear how the coupon defines "medicine" so ask the manager. Do cough drops count? What about lip balm? Hmmmm....this coupon leaves room for creative solutions.

Caveats: expires Nov. 21, 2009. Cannot be combined with any other offers. Not valid online.

AVG Free provides antivirus protection gratis!

One thing you should never do is run a Windows computer without some form of virus protection. In the past, in order to get any decent virus protection, you had to spend big bucks on security suites like Norton and McAfee; but now AVG Free protects you against the viruses and spyware for free.

AVG has been in the virus protection business since 1991 and the free version of its AVG Anti-Virus program have been widely used by myself and many other users for many years as a free alternative to high priced year-by-year antivirus subscriptions.

Another added bonus of the free AVG Antivirus software is that the program uses relatively few systems resources so it won't slow down your computer.

The free version of AVG Antivirus works on the newly released Windows 7 and offers the following protection.
  • Anti-Virus - Makes sure you can't get or spread a virus, worm, or Trojan horse.
  • Anti-Spyware - Prevents unauthorized information access by spyware and adware.
  • LinkScanner - Ensures every web page you visit is safe – even before you go there.
In addition to the free version of AVG Antivirus, the company offers two paid versions of the AVG Antivirus software with additional protection against downloaded files and identity theft.
