11:44AM One of WalletPop's reporters sent in a dispatch that in one store out there (which shall remain nameless), there was a stock of Zhu Zhu pets stashed in an office, but none stocked on the shelves. What kind of control issue is this? On the busiest shopping day of the year, why wouldn't you put the most prized merchandise on the shelf? Crowd control, so that there is no frenzy? Or is the store saving them up for a special promotion?
11:41AM We are just back from a shopping center in the Bronx, a brand new center, and we had no trouble parking -- it was practically empty. Urban shopping centers with big box stores are unique entities that seem not to have caught on too much. Most people there probably walked or took the subway, which discourages mass purchases. So there's a Catch-22 there.

BEST BUY ADS ARE A SCAM! My husband was FIRST in line at Best Buy in Michigan for appliances. We wanted the advertised washer and dryer and the dishwasher. Even having the bracelet and being FIRST in line he was told that they were sold out of the washer dryer set AND there was only one dishwasher and he would have to pay an EXTRA $70 for delivery although he brought his truck to pick the stuff up! Bad buy, Best Buy!

I agree. I was surprised Circuit City closed since Best Buy is the scam company.

I can't beleive people are so dumb to realize that every single so called deal is a scam. If you look closely at what is being sold you will see that it is the cheapest most basic model they are selling for the "doorbuster" price. Take for example a laptop that is going for $399. Whoa, that must be a great deal, except the fact that it's got the cheapest processor in it and it's the most basic model they make. And the washer and dryers thay are selling for low prices. Take a good look at them. Do some research and you will see that they suck. They might last a few years or less when if you paid just a few hundred extra for the better model, they will probably last 10-15 years. And look at those BIG SAVINGS on TV's!!! THEY ARE 720p PLASMA'S THAT ARE THE BOTTOM OF THE BARRELL!! Come on people. The stores can sell these items at such low prices because they buy them for even cheaper than that from the manufacturer. The manufacturer makes a really cheap model for black friday sales. You will probably NEVER see those models in that store again. That's why they don't give rainchecks. They sell these things for so cheap and carry such few of them in each store because they know that if you wait for that long in a line and regardless if you get what you came for or not, you are going to buy other items there at probably the regular MSRP and that's where they make all there money.

That is sooooo true! I work in retail, and the offer in my store was no different than any other day for our rewards customers, except that we have signage for it......

I wish people would look at where these things are made. Even the famous Paula Deen who makes her millions in the USA has her things made in China. She needs to put Americans to work. Oh yes, she helped feed those she put out of work!

ToysRUs in Newington Ct was a real big JOKE today. The staff had people snaking a long line throughout the store just to get to a register. There weren't really any deas & no incentives for shopping during the doorbusters hours. Noone said hello, happy holidays, thank-you for shopping toysrus...NOTHING!!!! I left that store with maybee two things..not one was at a discount and had to wait in a 20 minutes line..which was a joke!!!!!!!

There is absolutely NOTHING worth purchasing that would get me to stand in a line for HOURS, in the middle of the night, so that I could be 'FIRST' ~ or among the FIRST ~ to purchase an item! I don't care WHAT that 'item' might be! In fact, the year I did my Christmas shopping ~ ALL OF IT ~ months prior to Christmas was the best Holida Season ever, AND everyone loved their gifts! I seriously doubt I spent any more money shopping through the season ... AND I KNOW I enjoyed the pre-Christmas preparation and celebration much more than when I'm 'panicked', last minute, about 'what' to get someone! But even my 'panick' wouldn't entice me to shop Black Friday! I leave that for the NUTS!

It seems the economy is showing the effects this season, We went to a walmart today for the black friday specials and the parking lot was half empty this morning and the clerks told me it was slow at 5am. I'm sure the government and retailers will find a way to project today's sales drops in a positive way or just basically lie about them to encourage us to spend more this season.

More crap sold from China. The first thing people should ask is "What's made in America"? If your kids cannot do without cheap and often dangerous toys from China at least buy American. Buy them a bible if your family claims to be Christain and have the kids read it. Read especially Revelations. China is a non-Christain country that has no religious freedom. I have been to China several times and most people have no idea how repressed the Chinese are. The Chinese government has killed over 60 million people and makes Hitler and Stalin look like boy scouts.

People seriously need to get a life, I mean camping out all night, give me a break, half of those "so called deals" are just come ons to get you inside the store, ive gotten up at 5 and even 4 in the morning to go to a store, I just walk out pissed off because the store makes excuses that they never got the item in or some how magically sold out of them when they had just opened, maybe the sales are great, but the thoughts of getting trampled to death or injured made me refuse to go out this year. Ive gotten into the habit of shopping online, no lines, no rude people and my ups guy happily delivers my purchases right to my door or workplace.

I slept in until 11 this morning and I'm watching college football as I type this. Why would I want to stand in a freezing cold swine flu line so that I can buy a crappy toaster that the store can't sell all year?

NKDY : My wife bought a nice wool coat several days ago for $200.00. Went back today, Black Friday, same coat was selling for the "regular" price of $340.00, discounted sale price of 40% off. What a scam. How many other of the Premium Outlets (Fairfield, CA) stores were doing this too? Or elsewhere in the nation? Yet the crowds were crawling like ants all over these stores, with waiting time for parking space.

I wasn't out at 5 am, but when I was out this morning at the mall, I was told at each store that there were only a few people there when they opened, and the stores I shopped at had very few people. Also, if you check weekly ads, the prices this year and last year on Black Friday were very similar to the weekly ads. AOL is not a news source. It is an advertising vehicle for stores.

I woke up anyway at 5 like I usually do and decided to go to Big Lots down the street to get an Ipod they had for 20 bucks. Walked in, got it, paid for it and was out in 10 minutes.
Wasn't too crowded in there either
