7-Eleven now has its own wine (Don't forget to ask for a brown paper bag)

Something to jot down the next time you're in the mood for a drink and don't have a lot of cash: 7-Eleven now has its own brand of wine.

The name of the label is Yosemite Road. They're selling a chardonnay and a cabernet sauvignon, and both will retail for about $3.99. It'll be $4.99 in Florida, due to state taxes.
Supermarket News says that the Yosemite Road Chardonnay is "described as fresh and zesty with notes of apricot, peach and money, while its full-bodied cabernet sauvignon has juicy plum overtones."

I wouldn't know. I haven't tried it, and even if I did, I know my opinion wouldn't be worth much. I'm not much of a drinker. When I was in my early 20s, I took a date to a fancy restaurant and ordered a bottle of wine. It was pretty obvious that I had never ordered a bottle of wine in my life, and later, she took me to task for it. Obviously, that was a romance that didn't go very far.

But it does seem like a smart move, 7-Eleven's foray into wine. The private label business is booming, as we mentioned in a WalletPop post last year, when discussing 7-Eleven deciding to go more upscale, and, of course, in this economy, people are always looking for bargains. And the wine should work both ways. You can either buy it, pleased that you've saved money over the higher-priced wines, or if you're really discouraged that you can't afford an expensive bottle of wine, you can drown your sorrows in the cheap stuff.
