The U.S. needs to join the world community and take action on climate change. As Wallet Poppers, you can help make that happen by getting involved in a number of excellent programs to get the word out, and also by investigating ways to lesson your own impact on our planet's climate.

We need to limit worldwide greenhouse gases and build a clean energy economy so we can find a sustainable solution to our global climate crisis. Leaders will meet in Copenhagen this December to negotiate a global response to climate change. The U.S. is the world leader in greenhouse gas pollution as well as clean energy technology. So it is time for the United States to implement comprehensive clean energy policies to curb emissions.

You can easily take the first step by signing a petition and inviting your friends to sign a petition at tcktcktck to ask world leaders to hammer out a global climate treaty in Copenhagen. You can take similar action at Vote Earth. We have less than a hundred days left to get the word out that it's time for world leaders to take bold and ambitious action and work out a fair agreement on climate action in December 2009.

You also can join people from around the world on the International Day of Climate Action on October 24, 2009. The day is being organized by 350.org, which is an international campaign dedicated to building a movement to unite the world around solutions to the climate crisis.

You can help spread the word with the Nature Conservancy's Planet Change Project. As part of the project you'll get ideas for how to spread the word on Twitter and Facebook.

You can promote green journalism with Current Green. There you will find video stories you can watch and then promote on your websites and blogs.

You can support the clean energy bill introduced by Sens. John Kerry and Barbara Boxer. The bill mandates steep cuts in global warming pollution; cracks down on old, dirty coal power plants; and ensures that the billions of dollars generated by a cap on global warming pollution are invested in things such as clean technologies, green jobs training, adaptation, and avoided deforestation.

You can also take action one step further and actually change how you live your life. Sign up for the No Impact Experiment. The experiment is a one week climate cleanse. For one week you can find what a positive difference no impact living can make on your life. The no impact experiment offers an extensive how-to manual to make it easy for you to try no impact living. You'll get support online in a NING network, as well as support tips on Twitter, so you don't have to try this experiment on your own.

Each day you'll get a challenge giving you steps to take to live a no impact life. At the end of the day you can talk with others on the no impact blog about your experiences, get ideas from others and provide support. You'll take a brief survey about the day and you can watch a nightly webcast with discussions from experts. After the one week experiment you'll get one more survey and if you think the experience should be shared with others you can become a No Impact Ambassador in your community.

You also should stay up-to-date on the latest news about climate change at Change.org. Stay informed so you know when it's critical to act.
