Method Man runs into the Tax Man

Hip-hop star turned actor Method Man is looking at four years in prison on charges that he failed to file a return or pay New York state income taxes between 2004 and 2007.Method Man told The New York Daily News that the reason behind the oversight is simple: "Myself, I'm a pothead. It's no secret. Everyone knows that. I go on the road and forget everything else. Sure, [the tax department] sent letters to my house saying, 'We need this money.' They started sending them in 2002. . . "
I've found checks from 2005 that have never been opened yet. And we're talking a significant amount of money! But I never opened [the tax department's] letters ... so this is how the tax man came to Meth's house and took his truck. Not because I was broke! I got plenty of money!"
And then, the crown jewel of the interview: "Because I got high, I forgot to pay. It was stupid. I'm an idiot for that."
Wait. So Method Man has unopened checks from 2005 and hasn't been opening letters from the tax man that were sent in 2002. Can somebody please get this guy an accountant and a Ritalin smoothie? Perhaps he can plea bargain out of the charges by agreeing to do a series of public service announcements on how marijuana-smoking can lead to tax evasion.
