General Motors brings its legacy of bad service to eBay
Filed under: Technology, Relationships, Consumer Complaints
One of the knocks on General Motors has long been that the company is arrogant and out of touch with the needs of its customers.Has that changed since the company went into bankruptcy and pledged that it was building a new, more nimble car company? Exhibit A in the "Nothing has changed" file is this: the feedback rating for GM's eBay account.
In total, yourgmdealer has received six positive ratings and two negatives, but because one buyer left three ratings, the actual feedback score is +2. . . four positive and two negatives. And if you think that's bad, there's more: Three of the positive feedback ratings come from a user with the ID "661henryglen" who left this glowing review after purchasing a 2009 Chevy Cobalt: "THIS IS A VERY SIMPLE PROCESS."
That feedback was left on Aug-20-09 at 16:51. The auction ended on Aug 20, 2009 at 16:48:01 PDT. That raises a fantastic question: How does a person buy a car on eBay and then complete the transaction in less than three minutes, allowing enough time to log back in and leave feedback? That must have been a simple process indeed!
Fascinating -- and suspicious -- stuff.

The least GM could have done was leave positive feedback to 661henryglen.
Don't they know the quid pro quo of eBay?

Hey, if you don't like the ratings, nobody is forcing you to participate, but I this gives you a chance to knock GM.

Nice to see this on Google News to counterbalance the recent article talking about how eBay and GM were considering extending the experiment with GM receiving much positive feedback from dealers. http://www.sacbee.com/business/story/2154370.html
I should point out that GM now has a score of +1 with 3(!) negatives.

Regarding Jim's comment.
I think there is confusion about people just doing this to make negative comments about GM and or eBay.
Rather we consumers are trying to a buy vehicle at a competitive price. Each of us only have a limited amount of time each day we want good ROI on our time. Well executed, this eBay / GM partnership should deliver that.
Instead they leave us buyers fighting eBay and GM's YourGMDealer to understand and execute what eBay offers they accept. That Is not too much too ask.

I purchased a 2005 Chevrolet Uplander minivan with 25000 miles, it was a year old and was considered a new vehicle because it had never been titled. I bought the 7 year 75000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and thank God I did. This vehicle spent more time in the shop than it did on the road. I had rental cars as long as 6 weeks in a row. When I complained to GM, their answer was; the dealer is responsible for the car. I went to the General Sales manager at the dealership and he said "WE DIDN'T BUILD IT" and refused to listen even though I had pages and pages of repairs. Some were four or five times for the same thing. The Dealership owner would not even talk to me or return my calls. I bought my first Foreign car in July. This turned me completely against GM.
