Typical Wal Mart merchandise. Cheap as hell and made in China. If that DVD player doesn't burn down your house it will ruin your CD.

actually I have had one of these dvd players for quit awhile. I like it very much. It is very upseting to find that something you have had in your bedroom for three years is dangerous.

Typical Chinese made junk. When will Americans smarten up and leave this Chinese made garbage on the shelf? Letting this crap to rot on the retailers shelves sends a clear message to the retailer especially since it hits them right in their pocketbook.

It happens all the time even the big names. My mom has a durabrand boombox and she used to leave it outside all year long and it still works great. The brand has nothing to do with it. I wouldn't be ashamed to buy a durabrand product. I know it may not be a sony or panasonic but at least I would have saved some money especially with these times. Yes people always say buy something better for the money because it may break and then you'll spend money on fixing it or replacing it. But I like to take chances and they are great "Knock on wood"

I don't know why Walmart doesn't get a good company to manufacture their DVD players right. I'm sure that company in China produced a very generic and shabbily done DVD player. And sometimes the national brands of those stereos and DVD players like Panasonic are far better in quality than Walmart's. And the Walmart CD player looks cheap and has no boom box button for a deeper sound on their product. I prefer Philips or Sony.

Whatever happened to "caveat emptor" (buyer beware)? Remember the old maxim, "you get what you pay for". If you buy a bargain at Walmart and your house burns down, was it a bargain? Along with low prices you get merchandise produced by the lowest bidder (China) so what can you expect?

I came home from work early one afternoon to a horrible smell in the house. I called the fire dept. because I couldn't tell where it was coming from. They looked and search, and finally the "rookie" realized it was this brand of DVD player. It has two melted holes in the bottom. They said if I hadn't came home early that day, they would be here for a "different" smell. One I wouldn't have liked . Now we keep our new one unplugged when we're not using it , "just in case"!

Hey come on now..Everyone knows Wal Mart is an easy target...but really now, most of us know almost all stores carry so many items....ever notice where they were made?...China, India, Central America....Come on....
In a way it is like sugar you know that evil item that are making 'Children' into a life of ill health leading this country to ruin in death , disability and cost wise...per Health Fanatics....It is the major companies themselves....ever notice items on labels contain some form of sugar. Let us have a Henry Waxman investigation....and each of the CEO's stand up and say they did not know sugar was addictive and that they ONLY put it in their products to sell more.

Here's an idea - quit blaming China, Wal-Mart and Obama for your problems. YOU are responsible for your and your childrens' safety. If something seems dangerous, have it checked if you don't know how. Heed warning labels. Wear a helmet. Take the stack of papers off the electrical things in your house. Put down the cell phone while you are driving, you can be killed.

It's not just Wal-Mart. I wish people would quit knocking it. You'd do well to find many companies that don't get some or all of their parts or products from China, Japan, or Taiwan. I have never been able to call HP and get someone that speaks English so I can understand them. Same goes for my phone company, which you'd think should certainly be American! Wal-Mart just happens to be a huge corporation so the bigger the company, the easier the target. With today's economy, there'd be many families that would be in worse trouble than they are if it weren't for Wal-Mart or the dollar stores. Not everyone has cash to burn just to show off an "American" name on a foreign made product!
