Domino's adds chocolate cake, offers free samples
Filed under: Bargains, Food, Fantastic Freebies
American pizza lovers are used to a dessert menu of pizza dough all sugared up, but Domino's thinks there's a market for more conventional, rich and gooey delivery treats. Today it is adding Chocolate Lava Crunch Cakes to its menu, real oven-baked cakes with a gooey chocolate fudged center, served warm.
The company is offering a free cake with an order of its BreadBowl Pasta until Sept. 13. A Three Cheese Mac-N-Cheese Breadbowl Pasta has 730 calories, so adding a 357-calories-per-serving cake pushes the meal over 1,000 calories. R U Full yet?
Those with August birthdays also can get a free cake by presenting proof of your birthday at any Domino's outlet before the end of the month. Also, in honor of President Obama's birthday on Aug. 4, Washington, D.C. shops will be giving out free cakes to one and all on that day; no other purchase necessary.
The Lava Crunch will sell for $3.99 for two single-serving portions. The cakes are made in a facility that also handles peanuts and tree nuts, so those will allergies should take that into consideration.
The company's CEO told Reuters that he expects the cakes to be a "huge home run," but I have my doubts. For many of us, pizza is an indulgence, something we order as a treat. Are we likely to pile on another bit of self-indulgence? And how many of us are still hungry after devouring a pizza?
For the corporation, this is a shrewd move to expand its offerings with minimal downside risk. I presume preparing the cake requires no new equipment. It's portioned for easy delivery to the table or the home, and is offered at a price point that should yield a handsome net.
I'm just not sure if this is analogous to McDonald's adding coffee drinks (successfully, it seems), or Wendy's attempting to crack the breakfast market (twice, both times miserable failures). I'll have to find a friend born in August and share his free sample before I can come to a conclusion.

Ask Domino's if spitting into the food or wiping the food on your bottom is a part of this new product's recipe? This company is out-of-line, not the least caring or operationally sound to be in business after their employees in North Carolina did absolutely unspeakable acts to food that was served from this restaurant.
If it happens at 1 restaurant it can and will happen in others. Are YOU willing to take the chance? My answr is NO!

Just stay home if you are worried about what people are putting in your food.As For Domino's they have now made background checks a company requirement so that criminals can't sneak onto the team.

You are completely out of line. How many times do you go to McDonalds? Haven't you heard the horror stories of what many of them do to the foods they prepare? It was poor management at that one particular Domino's in NC. Not all act in that manner. I am sure there are other stores that have done unspeakable things here and there, but you will get with any food service, including upscale restaurants. I could tell you a ton of stories, first hand from such places! If you are concerned about one publicized story, you might just want to grow and raise your own food and never eat out again!

I found a coupon for a cool way to share your love of nature. Its called a TickleMe Plant and it is a real plant that you grow that will close its leaves and lower its branches when tickled. My students love it and 99% of the people that I give TickleMe Plants to have never had their own house plant that moves when tickled. You can get a TickleMe Plant Greenhouse to grow your own at http://www.ticklemeplant.com
Use the coupon code PLANT to get two dollars off.

Hi, I am sure that incidents of this type happen in quite a few restaurant establishments, not just Dominoe's. Do you plan to just stay home and eat 100% of your food? Good idea.

Honestly, I think this is liable to occur at ANY restaurant, not just Domino's because some because some sick people did so at ONE location. There's sick, crazy people everywhere! In which case are you going to boycott ALL of the food industry?!?!

I wish they would add salads to their menu. Pizza and a tossed or antipasto salad would be great!

Yeah, that is just what we need. After having a calorie laden white bready pizza that is loaded with carbs and fat, we as an obese nation need to be tempted with a chocolate ooey goeey surprise. I have a hard emough time with my weight. I wish that these fast food joints offered some lower calorie healthier options. How about a whole wheat pizza and some fat free frozen yogurt or fresh fruit for dessert.
I lost 40 pounds over 2 years by stopping with the processed food and eating more lean meats, veggies, natural grains and getting in some cardio every day. Losing weight is hard! I think weight loss that fast is unhealthy. I am not a fan of
dieting as much as changing habits. I used to
always go on and off diets and gain and lose 20-30 pounds at a time.
After just finally my whole way of eating ( nor more late night pizza and ice cream runs) and just getting tired of having
fat
jeans, thin jeans and a varying wardrobe, I finally clicked on what
worked for me.
I am always aware of what I eat. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy
pizza and cheesecake sometimes. Just not all the time and not in
gigantic pigout portions.
I have given up with trying to be "perfect" I am not thin, but I am
healthy, curvy and normal
and am happy with how much I get to eat to maintain my size.
I stopped eating lots of processed foods and discovered the huge
advantage of adding fiber to your diet. You feel fuller and more
satisfied longer. I used to start my day with a muffin and a diet
pepsi. All empty calories and loaded with fat. I now have a thick
greek yogurt with 2 tablespoons of fitflax http://www.fitflax.com and
some berries and a cup of green tea. I have it on a nice plate,
treat myself like a lady and I feel fabulous. Fitflax is a golden
roasted flax and chia blend that is nutty, delicious and low carb and
low cal. Since it is roasted it does not have to be ground and it
loaded with Omega 3's, Omega 6's and antioxidants. So not only did I
lose
weight, but my skin is fabulous now too. I found the code fit10 on
an Oprah board and I got 10% off on my last purchase.
So c'mon fast food moguls, give us some real choices. Papa Johns is actually offering some lower calorie healthier pizzas and pizzas with whole wheat crusts at present.

For all those who think Domino's is horrible, your right to an extent. As a former manager there they do try very hard to keep there stores clean and up-to date. They are a bit sluggish in keeping up with the times. They pretty much mock the customers with there whole "You Got 30 Minutes™" is not a guarantee, but an estimate. You may get more. Really I can wait LONGER, wow, like thats a good thing? I understand that it's not a guarantee due to saftey so stop useing that pitch and use a less mocking one.
On the flip side they do try and keep there staff trained and motivated, a losing battle as the economy sucks so the drivers who beat there own cars and barely make enough tips to be worth while have that attitude. The employee's do try and make things right and keep the customer satisfied but corporate has done many things to make that near impossible.
As for what happened in the NC store........yeah why don't you see what happens at the mom and pop stores where theres no threat of suprise inspections, and no guidelines to be followed at all. You think Domino's is gross you have no clue how gross the other places are, and this comes from working for both.
