The H2O Mop Steam Cleaners, as seen on TV, is being recalled after at least 18 reports of users being shocked or burned, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

About 580,000 units that were sold nationwide for about $100 between June 2007 and December 2008 are subject to the recall. The problem is with the power cord, which can wear down and expose the wiring.

The Chinese-made electrically powered cleaner gets filled with water and shoots steam through pads on cleaning head and is used to clean a variety of floor surfaces.

Thane International, which also markets the Mr. T Flavorwave Oven and The Perfect Dog system, has set up a site to help get a kit to consumers to repair the problem. Until the repair is made, the CPSC said the steam cleaner should not be used.

The recalled mops are white with a purple water tank. "H20" and "M" are printed on the top of the cleaning head.

Recalled model numbers are 808.092 and OEM-TV-001 and will have the following reference numbers printed on a label on the rear: 200709198 to 200803148 or H20M1000 to M-H20M1198.

For more information, call Thane at (800) 485-0017.
