Sales tax holidays coming soon: is your state offering one?
Filed under: Bargains, Shopping, Tax, School
Preparing to shop for schools clothes and supplies? WAIT! Your state, or one near you, may be offering a tax holiday soon, a few days in which the sales tax on such items is waived. Why wouldn't you wait a little to save 6% or more?North Carolina, for example, will drop sales tax on clothing, school supplies, computers, sports equipment and more from August 7-9. Louisiana broadens this to all tangible personal property, up to $2,500, and hurricane preparedness items up to an additional $1,500, on August 7-8.
If you're planning to hunt this fall, you might want to schedule a visit to South Carolina, where on November 27-28 sales taxes are 0% on handguns, rifles and shotguns. Need a stove, refrigerator or other appliance? Buy an Energy Star product in West Virginia between September 1 and November 30 and you'll pay no sales tax.
In all, 15 states and the District of Washington offer tax holidays. An excellent list of those states, dates and items included can be found on the Federation of Tax Adminstrators site.

I have never been a morning person. That does not work out too well when you have to get 3 kids ready for school in the morning. I have been a regular user of multi-vitamin packs and energy drinks for some time now. I really hated the "burn out" from the drinks and taking the vitamins alone really did not do much for me. I started taking Resveratrol Pills http://cli.gs/EternalRezv and I now love getting up in the morning and have the extra energy to exercise while the kids are in school. So I am a "skinnier" morning person too. I am so glad I found this ultimate supplement: http://cli.gs/EternalRezv

How come New York isn't on the list they are a very tax friendly
State? HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH JUST JOKING.
They are the highest tax state in the country if not the entire world. If you don't have the money they kick you right out! 51% of your money will go to NY taxes and that doesn't include the Fed taxes you pay. The state of NY acts like your new spouse and partner they share everything and sometimes takes more than half of your income.

Where, exactly, would the "District of Washington" be Tom? When trying to be helpful with spreading information, it helps when it is accurate. You might want to try again on that one.

mn is also a high tax state...with the housing crisis as it is...you would think that states would lower property taxes...not so...when the price of my home was going up...the taxes went up 200 or more a year....now that the prices are coming down...taxes are still high...its coming down at a very much slower rate than it went up....i lost 60k but only went down 90.00 a year...when it went up 60k ended up paying extra 450 a year... ?? if they really cared something would be done...instead the state of mn ...is trying to raise property taxes ... to make up for the lack of monies in areas that they think are important...health care for illegals....( let them go home) our governor refused to sign a bill raising our taxes..to bad he wont be running again...we need him.....and more like him......... next time around i am voting for a party that wants americans to keep their arms..and their rights...

What happened to Massachusetts? We got the tax free holidays before...why not this year? The economy is lousy enough. Can't get a break unless you're a crooked wealthy social elite, ugh!
