Nestlé Toll House Cooke Dough recalled for E. Coli
Filed under: Recalls
Nestlé USA Baking Division has issued a recall of its Toll House brand refrigerated cookie dough products. This was in response to notification that the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control are investigating a report of E.coli 0157:H7 illnesses that could be related to eating this raw cookie dough. See, your mother was right!
This E.coli can cause abdominal cramping, vomiting and bloody diarrhea. Young children and the elderly can also suffer kidney damage from this infection.
Apparently, an unknown number of consumers have reported getting sick after eating the cookie dough. The company has not found any of the bacteria in its products, but is proceeding with the recall while waiting for test results. So should you
Included in the recall:
- Refrigerated Cookie Bar Dough
- Cookie Dough Tub
- Cookie Dough Tube
- Limited Edition Cookie Dough items
- Seasonal Cookie Dough
- Ultimates Cookie Bar Dough
For more specific details see this list.
No other products in the Nestlé Toll House family, including ice cream made with Toll House cookie dough, or pre-baked cookies, are included in this recall.
The recalled items can be returned to your grocer for a full refund. You can also reach Nestlé Consumer Service at 1-800-559-5025 or visit www.verybestbaking.com.

Eating raw cookie dough is stupid. Those idiots that do deserve to get sick. I have Nestle's in the fridge now and have been making cookies with it for a couple of weeks. NOBODY has gotten sick an. I will keep my cookie dough in the fridge and continue to make my cookies with it.

there is nothing wrong or stupid about eating raw cookie dough...if it is so stupid then why do they put it in ice cream, blizzards and other desserts. Only an idiot would wish sickness upon someone...the only idiot I see here is YOU!

The only thing questionalble in real cookie dough is the raw egg. If you know your eggs are fresh, there is nothing it that can hurt you. I am sure cookie dough ice cream has no egg in the cookie dough. Making chocolate chip cookies is so easy, I do not understand why people buy the refrigerated dough. It contains inferior ingredients and extra chemicals. You can taste the oil. There shouldn't be any oil in good chocolate chip cookies, just butter.

Hey y'all, back in Tennessee I eat cookie dough ALL the time, and I don't ever get sick. Y'all need to just chill, and the cookies are good anyways, so why not bake them?
Ok, love y'all!

Nothing like homemade cookies so one knows what exactly goes into the recipe. I bake from scratc\h for my kids and grand kids but some parents have become too reliant on these pre prepared products. I work and still find time to bake homemade bakes.

Boy do we have some damage control going on in the comments section or what?It amazes me that the story admits E-COLI CONTAMINATION FOUND IN FECES and we have 99% of the comments touting the fact that they just love raw cookie dough and that they will keep product recently purchased in the middle of a RECALL.The only reason this recall is "voluntary"is that they got busted with DIRTY FOOD and they dont want to get sued.Hey Nestle Baking Division :"Why dont you pay a few more celebrities to say how much they love your product in the comments section of this story?"Talk about obvious manipulation in media.

@ Joe: Karma is a bitch so enjoy eating your cookies!!!
There's nothing wrong with eating the dough raw or cooked, but if theres a recall, then why not listen and throw it away! When everyone was afraid of getting the swine flu you sure in the hell didnt wanna get so you covered your tracks, why not treat a recall in the same aspect!!!

From now I won't knowingly eat their products even after the recall. I'd always be thinking that some of those brown spots might not be chocolate chips. Yuck!

WHY ARE ALL THE ECOLI CRAP COMING OUT THE PAST FEW YEARS? IS IT BECAUSE MOST OF THE PEOPLE WORKING IN THESE FACTORIES ARE ILLEGALS WHO DON'T KNOW HOW TO WASH THEIR HANDS AFTER TAKING A CRAP OR PISS? I'VE EATEN A SQUARE OR TWO OF RAW COOKIE DOUGH FROM THIS BRAND ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO AND A MONTH AGO AND DIDN'T GET SICK. IT TASTE GOOD NO MATTER IF IT'S BAKED OR NOT. PEOPLE WASH YOUR HANDS AFTER TOUCHING ANYTHING DIRTY AND OTHER PEOPLE WOULDN'T GET SICK.

It's probably not from the cookie dough at all, but E-Coli from people's hands when they either don't wash their hands after the bathroom, don't wash them long enough OR don't wash them thoroughly before handling the dough. I use the same cookie dough and never had a problemn but then again, I wash my hands frequently....
