Job hunters get the wrinkles out with free Botox
Some job seekers in Arlington, Va., got a four- to six-month pick-me-up with free Botox injections last week from an area clinic. That's how long the results of a treatment typically last after the injections to remove skin wrinkles, according to an Associated Press story. While the shots won't make deep skin wrinkles disappear completely, they should smooth wrinkles out enough to give the job hunters more confidence for four to six months.
"It's important when you're feeling down to treat yourself, to get a pick-me-up," said job recruiter Laura Baker. "Whether it's Botox or something else, it's that fresh approach you need."
At $300 to $500 for a single treatment, the free shots were worthwhile to the middle-age job seekers competing with younger applicants.
"There's so much competition," she said. "And we're up against kids coming out of college and not making the salaries that we've had."
Age is a factor in layoff complaints. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission reports that age discrimination complaints are up 30% in the 2008 fiscal year, compared to the previous year.
Like gray hair, wrinkles are experience that people earn, and paralyzing the facial muscles to make lines fade seems like an extreme way to improve your chances of getting hired.

Botox is a great alternative for some. I chose to change my diet (eat less processed foods) drink water and eat flax every day and my skin glows!
I stopped eating lots of processed foods (but still controlled
portion sizes!) and discovered the huge advantage of adding fiber to
your diet. You feel fuller and more satisfied longer. I used to start
my day with a muffin and a dietpepsi. All empty calories and loaded
with fat. I now have a thick greek yogurt with 2 tablespoons of
fitflax http://www.fitflax.com and some berries. Fitflax is a golden
roasted flax and chia blend that is nutty, delicious and low carb and
low cal. Since it is roasted it does not have to be ground and it is
loaded with Omega 3's and antioxidants. So not only did I lose
weight, but my skin is fabulous now too. Flax and flax hull lignans
are gentle natural detoxifiers that definitely keep you regular!
I write a blog documenting my trials and tribulations with weight
loss and share recipes and coupons. http://www.flaxchick.com

Wish they'd send some o' dat free Botox down here for me !
I could use some assistance holding da face up during interviews. Seriously, it's a tough, tough task for an older woman to get a job after being at one job and loving it for decades. What can one do ? I'd do Botox in an instance if it were offered to me . I'd feel more competitive in the job market.
Now, after interview after interview.... I feel like used potatoes.
BTW, my resume is full and I have been recognized as the top of my field. Now, used potatoes ..... sigh!

With all the talk of the economy and unemployment figures heading toward the double digits I've found a way to look better and make some money while doing it.
It's the core4 system through CNI in Carlsbad, CA, here's a link:
www.irepcni.com/candice
Would you like to lose 8 - 16 lbs. within 30 days without changing your eating habits? How about a safe way of preventing 25% of the calories you eat being absorbed by your body? What if you could sprinkle small amounts of a tasteless healthy food additive on your favorite foods and eliminate 25% of those calories!

The unfortunate thing about botox is there have not been any medical studies done on the long-term effects of botox on the skin and in your body. This is mostly due to the fact that using botox for cosmetic purposes is still somewhat new. Usually, doctors study the side effects of this toxin about 10 to 20 years down the line. Remember, botox is botulism, which is a dangerous toxin. What some of the most important points that the article mentioned, is that botox gives you a "four to six month pick-me-up", and "that's how long the results of a treatment typically last." It also mentions that "the shots won't make deep skin wrinkles disappear completely," and "paralyzing the facial muscles to make lines fade seems like an extreme way to improve your chances of getting hired." The most unfortunate situation is that ageism is such a large factor in hiring nowadays. Gone is the respect for long-range experience; the idea that the younger and less experienced you are, the more qualified you seem to be is a key factor in a person being hired, is really sad. The bottom line her is: dying your hair to get rid of the grey, and other image-enhancing tricks might make you feel better about yourself, and may initially fool people who are considering you for a job into thinking that you're younger, but who you really are inside will eventually shine through, and it's up to you to be yourself and try to nail your next job.

I think it's sick and pathetic that women have to use botox because their age gets in the way of getting a job. I have been out of work for a year and I am sure that my age (58) has ALL to do with it, because I have the abilities. This is a very sad day and age.

How sad that a face which expresses experience would have to be eraced with Botox. Isn't experience what an employer is seeking?????
I feel badly for these women when they have to deal with the repercussions of injecting chemicals into their faces for years.
There are natural ways to keep one's face beautiful. And there is beauty in accepting all stages of our lives.
