Last night, the 34th annual Gracie Awards honored television programming for women, by women. And guess who was there...Suze Orman! And she had a thing or two to say about our Zac Bissonnette. But first, Walletpop got event highlights from style expert, Jess Zaino, who covered the red carpet and ended up crammed in an elevator with some big names in television.

Here are Jess's highlights:

  • I cannot be more obsessed with the careers of women in media who do something so special that it makes a far-reaching, long-lasting pop culture impact. Rachel Ray took a supermarket demo counter and turned it into a media empire. Amy Poehler and her sassafras comedy impersonations, landed her a prime time show and hilarious movie roles. Gayle King has worked her way through television host to award winning radio host (with the help of a very good friend). Well, last night at the 34th Annual Gracie Awards, which honors women in television and film, I had the surreal opportunity of being in an elevator with all of them.
  • Having stalked out the press line early, I was able to meet some unbelievable women who all admitted to recycling their red carpet wardrobe in this time of scrimping and saving. Stephanie March, wife of Bobby Flay and star of Law & Order: SVU was proud to point out that she was wearing a five year old, black cocktail dress from Behnaz Sarafpour. Nickelodeon's "True Jackson, VP" star, Keke Jackson may be fifteen years old but is savvy about her style. To accecorize, she makes sure to always wear two rhinestone studded rings given to her as presents from hometown friends. She says, it costs a lot less but it means a lot more.
  • And the woman who knows best when it comes to style savvy and red carpet recycling choices, is the Queen of the coin, Suze Orman, who was wearing a lovely black pant suit complete with $12.99 camisole underneath from Kohl's. Suze was quick to say hello and gush over Walletpop's own Zac Bissonnette, stating that if she was younger and straight and he was older and straight, they would be the hottest thing on Park Place.
  • Shortly after, Suze made sure to leave us with the words, "If you are not smart with your money, then you're stupid", Miss Amy Poehler was whisked past her adoring press into the auditorium. Since a Poehler sighting was what I was really hoping for that night, I figured my time on the carpet was done and I would find my seat in the award show. I took a back door hoping to ditch the crowds of paparazzi and in my aforementioned surreal moment, found myself in an elevator with Amy Poehler, Gayle King, Rachel Ray, Mariska Hargitay, and Kathy Griffin. It was this girl's media-mogul-in-training dream come true. And as I floated behind them into the awards ceremony and to my seat, I was brought back to reality with the words of the first speaker, Dr. Maya Angelou, that "I'm a human being".... Aren't we all...
