Courtney Love sued by American Express

American Express has sued Kurt Cobain widow-turned-rocker-turned-actress Courtney Love for $352,059.67 in unpaid charges and fees on her Amex Gold, Centurion and Platinum Cards.
Of course this isn't the first time that Ms. Love has been accused of skipping out on bills. A high-end rehab facility sued her over a $181,000 unpaid bill for a stay in 2005 -- although later events would seem to suggest that Love didn't derive much value from that stint in detox.
There have also been tax liens and a lawsuit from management and accounting firm London & Co. accusing her of failing to pay the 5% commission due when she sold some of Nirvana's publishing rights for $19.5 million.
The best part is that whatever losses American Express takes on the Love account were more than replenished with the $3.9 billion in TARP funds it received. That's right: Taxpayer money was used to bailout people who decided to lend money to a notoriously drug addicted tax dodger.
Love's lawyer, Larry Fink, has fired back, stating that 104 AmEx credit cards were taken out in his client's name. According to TMZ, Fink argues that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that nobody takes out 104 credit cards. "AmEx knows the claim has no merit. We have told them this for a long time. AmEx's law policies allowed fraudulent transactions to be charged to my client's card."
How did Love get into this mess? It seems likely that a long history of drug abuse has been a leading factor. Watch this video of her throwing makeup at Madonna during a 1995 MTV Video Music Awards interview (and if you need more, there's this drunken David Letterman appearance).

I thought his name was Bam No-brain, but it was hard to tell what Courtney was saying between her slurred speech from all the drugs she was on, plus that meat pole she had in her mouth when she was talking about him.

It sorta pisses me off that they spelled Kurt's name wrong.. It sorta goes to show that the people who write these things don't actually know anything about the person they are trashing. If you've seen Courtney's name before, chances are, you've seen Kurt's name along with it. In fact, if you read between the lines on most of these damn articles, you can see things like this happening over and over again.

The skank could very likely be Amex here. I think they are not doing so great these days and who better to pick on than a druggie celebrity they know can afford to pay them all this money, if push comes to shove. I'm more inclined to listen to what Fink has to say than anyone in this matter.

I have to blame the wise & brilliant lawmakers who allow people like this to not have to pay for her crimes but send the bill to us? What country do we live in? Why are some allowed to get away or write off their wasteful lifestyle and the rest get charged $ ? Seems we really need to clean the hen house out and give them term limits instead of letting them sit on the nest and charge the taxpayers while they get FATTER and FATTER and enjoy their lavish lifestyles eating on your buck! Bend over America! ! Why are these fat pigs bigger than the American public? How long do you frogs ....like sitting in the warm water? This administration is no better than the last one but worst, it has already spent more than any other administration since Washington held office in the few days its been in there. Alcoholism is an addiction. Sure, Courtney was WAY out there on Letterman and MTV! Nervous laughter greets her stupified performance but it's sad, not funny. And rehab does not guarantee a radical turn from old, deep-seated problems (her personal story is a contributing factor). This, combined with the addict gene, fuels substance abuse. Many celebrities have gone through rehab only to relapse. Sobriety is a life-long commitment. I hope Courtney can find it. BTW: In that MTV vid in 1995, Madonna appears unsure of herself - she's come a looooong way in 14 years!

I wonder what the hell did Kurt Cobain see in this woman and I know I can wonder till the second comming of JESUS CHRIST and I'll never know. I'ts just to fucking crazy. Miss Love I try to understand you but you just don't fucking make sense NONE your way way WAY out there and no I don't think I care to go that fucking FAR life is already to much of a trip. Good luck to you and stay away from anybody else who can create beautiful sounds just for the sake of it.
