New Lincoln penny to debut May 14
Some exciting news going on in the world of coin collecting.
Tomorrow morning, May 14, the new "Indiana" Abe Lincoln penny will be going into circulation. It'll make its debut at the Lincoln State Park Amphitheater in Lincoln City, Indiana.
A crowd of 3,000 is expected, all waiting for the ceremony, which will start at 10 a.m., and where new 1-cent coins will be handed out to children 18 and under.
(That's right! Free money! Drive on over, and you, too, can get a free penny. You can thank me afterward.)
The front side of the coin will have Lincoln's face -- exactly what we're accustomed to. But the tails side will show Lincoln as a young lad, reading a book, during a break from rail splitting.
This is actually the second new Lincoln penny to debut this year. The first debuted in February, with the "tails" side featuring Lincoln's boyhood log cabin. A third one of Lincoln as a lawyer will come out later this year, and a fourth, showing an unfinished Capital dome, which represents the site where he took the oath of office on March 4, 1861.

Sad to see that "In God We Trust" is missing from the new pennies. Maybe now is the time to dump the pennies. The designers need to go back to their history class, to see how we were founded.

Maybe you should realise that 'In God We Trust' is on the front of pennies. Go back to school.

Well, the "In God we trust" was added by a Republican Congress in about 1865. Go to ebay and look at any coin from earlier than 1860. There is NO "In God we trust". So maybe you need to research "how we were founded"

We were founded by men that side...
"Lighthouses are more helpful than Churches"
Benjamin Franklin...
Biased school history lessons made it seem like the cowboys were the good guys and the Natives were the bad guys... When in reality it was the other way around. There is no disputing that. It isn't a matter of opinion. It is a matter of fact... So give me another history lesson for me to correct please...

Notice anything about this coin? That's right! "In God We Trust" was omitted. Just another example of the Democrat-backed, systematic destruction of the United States of America as a country. Wake up, people. You voted for them, and now you are going to pay the consequences of your actions.

Sorry to hear you worship your money, I spend mine. God's name doesn't need to be on every damn thing in the country. Grow up not everybody worships your particular way, why should they have it shoved in their faces at every turn. We have freedom of religion and that means we don't all have to be christian and you aren't entitled to anything special.

The only thing "godless" I have seen in this country over the past 8 years has been the hateful comments and behavior by self-proclaimed "Christians."
I don't know what god you worship, because it sure as hell isn't the loving God whose mercy and love for all man was preached about by Jesus Christ that I pray to.

I totally agree with you ! America will Never be what it was or what it could have been with all the EVIL that is in the White House NOW ! "In God We Trust" is as much a part of this dear Country of ours as the land it sits on. Plus..HISTORY is important..no matter who it offends. It is the past & should be remembered how hard times were & how we struggled to get to the point we were at before this Administration screwed their way into the White House....PLUS the Disgusting Inauguration ! A Disgrace to the Dignity of America ! NO CLASS ! Wake up America ! You did a STUPID & Unforgiveable injustice to our Country by voting WRONG ! We need to have a more secure Nation & someone else leading it that REALLY LOVES THE COUNTRY & THE PEOPLE IN IT & NOT wants to RUIN IT !!!!! You are all being terribly fooled & impeachment is the only answer & Dem Congress members brought to Justice for their terrible & treasonist activities ! ..Learn to VOTE with your true HEARTS & vote in those that will turn this country around to where we all can have a better way of life ! Sincerely, A TRUE PATRIOT !

the phrase "In God We Trust" is on the face of the penny and not the reverse. i believe it is still on the face of the new coin. they said the face of the penny hasn't changed but i guess we will have to wait a little bit to see for sure!

The front (obverse) side of the penny is not changing. That is where "In God We Trust" is placed. You are being shown the reverse side only in these pictures. Let's not try getting an argument started, AOsmell does that quite well without our help.

The back of the penny is what they are showing. 'In God We Trust' is on the front of the penny - all ya had to do is look at a penny in your pocket to see that

This kind of ignorant comment is what really gets me going. First of all, I'm looking at these new coins and I don't see where it says "In God we Trust". If it did, "God" knows that it would be done by the republican party who doesn't believe in a seperation of church and state. Prime example of wanting Jesus to be depicted in public schools. Let me repeat, PUBLIC schools. A place where all people of our land can go and learn without being subject to a religion that might be different from there own. I'll tell you what Bobbo -- the coin does say one thing "el pluribus unum"...I'm sure you've never heard of it before -- look it up, soak it in, and then think about who really should be dissapointed in there views.

It says "In God We Trust" on the other side of the coin. Perhaps you should consider keeping your opinions to yourself for the next few years, as a public service.

They are only showing the tail side of the coin. That's why you are not seeing In God We Trust

What does "In God We Trust" mean and who is "We"? There are a lot of "We" Americans that don't believe let alone trust your God.

As Christians and none christians, we need to be remembered that without God protecting this country we are nothing " Show me the coin used for the tax" ... They handed him( JESUS ) a small Roman coin...." Give to Caesar what is Caesar's , but to God what is God's " ---Mt. 22, 19ff.

How idiotic! This coin was conceived, designed and struck during the administration of CheneyBush. Blame them!
I wish the Department of the Treasury would stop putting the name of God in money. How vulgar can that be?
