Lawsuit madness: The airline lost his Xbox!

Please forgive me for being so blunt, but some people should not be allowed near airplanes. Case in point: A student of Yale University (of all places), is suing US Airways for $1 million. No, he did not get run over by an airplane. He did not fall off the loading tram. He did not even stub his toe on an airline attendant. According to the story from Cincinnati.com , the high and mighty Yalester has filed suit against US Airways for losing his stinking Xbox.

At the time of this writing, a US Airways spokesperson stated that the airline was unaware of the lawsuit. She did note however that the liability for lost luggage is limited to $3,300 per bag, by federal regulation. The 21-year-old, owner of an Xbox with a specialized hard drive, is apparently demanding compensation for the game console, and damages for weeks of getting the run-around.

The story from Cincinnati.com states: The suit seeks to have the airline pay him $1,700 for the loss of the gaming system and for "non-economic distress" of at least $25,000, but "in the maximum amount allowable by law or, in the alternative, in the sum of $1,000,000."

Valerie Wunder, a spokesperson for the airline, stated in an email response to the lawsuit, " Our publicly available baggage policies specifically exclude liability for electronics checked in luggage."

I guess it might be advantageous to read airline baggage policies before leaving the ground.
