On her Valentine' Day show, Suze Orman explained the reasons that same-sex marriage rights are so important financially: Referring to marriage as a "birthright", Orman says that people can save tends of thousands of dollars by being married. "Those people are making money, they are paying money. Every single one of us deserves to have the same benefits, whether we are gay or straight. . . Every single one of us deserves to make the most out of the money we have."If you're a supporter of marriage equality and have friends who are on the fence, send them this video so they can see the Queen of Personal Finance explain why it's so important. Marriage is between a MAN and a WOMAN, end of story. You can love each other all you want, that is fine.

No, it's not! You are WRONG! Try showing your work next time. None of us are obligated to take your word for anything. You are more than welcome to maintain this illusion in your mind if you so desire. Just STOP trying to force the rest of us to think like you!

I don't understand why people are so offended by the idea of two people of the same sex getting married. People are people regardless of their sexual orientation, and to treat them as less than human beings are preposterous and outrageous, and religion has nothing to with it. My parents got married because they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together, not to bind themselves to God. But isn't it a sin to get divorced? At this point in society, marriage does not have to be a religious union. And religion is no reason why homosexuals should not be allowed to marry.
This is for schexyoung.

You may want to read this article and see that by supporting gay marriage, you're simply allowing your government (the States) to interfere with a religious event (marriage). There is absolutely, positively, no way around this FACT, except that Suze and others want to trample over the Constitution for the sake of selling tax benefits. Logical people, such as those who voted in California, would prefer to keep religion and the State's "special interest" groups definition of "marriage" separate. Simple minds are easily influenced: http://www.goblinnetwork.com/2009/03/a-week-after-sean-penns-shameful-speech/

Court Jester #4:
So Im a Buddhist and my faith marries gay couples - why is my religious rights not upheld and yours are then? Its called Civil Marriage - if you get a divorce you go to a civil court, a church is not required. Its not religious.

Wow, Court Jester, that's a heck of a feat, using the words "religious" and "fact" in the same reference. Usually, the two have nothing to do with each other.
Religious people (of ANY faith or denomination) did not invent marriage, they do not own marriage, they don't hold the copyrights on any definitions. The only reason gay people are currently barred (in most states) from being allowed to be legally married is because this country is bigoted and discriminatory by tradition. The Constitution has nothing to do with it, other than foolishly leaving the matter to individual states, so that loving, devoted couples must slip in and out of marriage as they travel across the country.
I am gay, and I want to get married to my partner of five years, and like it or not, one day we are going to do it. It IS going to happen EVERYWHERE, and you cannot stop it. And I'll tell you something, when we take the plunge, our ceremony will not be in a church and your god will not be invited.
