If you walked away from a near-certain death, unharmed, what would do? Spend more time with your kids? Volunteer at your church or community center? Stop and smell the roses every day?

More than a dozen passengers who were on US Airways flight 1549 are looking into a possible lawsuit.

The Wall Street Journal (subscription required) is reporting that a group of passengers on the flight that miraculously landed safely in the Hudson River soon after hitting birds after takeoff have been "exploring their rights" with an aviation accident law firm, Kreindler & Kreindler in New York. No lawsuit has yet been filed.
Keep in mind that everyone survived what could have been a 100%-fatal plunge into the Hudson, but for pilot "Sully" Sullenberger's skill and luck that morning. All were plucked from the freezing water within an hour, and only a few had minor injuries.

U.S. Airways reimbursed everyone on that flight for the cost of their tickets, AND sent them each a $5,000 check that very weekend AND upgraded them to "Chairman's Preferred" Status, meaning they can fly in comfort with automatic upgrades and no baggage fees for a year.

Not to mention the small fact that every passenger on that flight got to go home and kiss their loved ones again. I dunno. I'd like to think that's compensation enough.

Call me unAmerican, but I think I'd be too busy living my second life to be scheming on how to wring some cash out of U.S. Airways.What do you think?
