I wrote a post recently about the Snuggie, the blanket-with-armholes direct-marketed on late-night TV. I was bowled over by the number of responses. Therefore, I'm not surprised that this simple utilitarian garb has become a social phenomenon, even inspiring a new activity, the Snuggie Pub Crawl.

A web site has even been created to organize a BYOS (bring your own Snuggie) Snuggie Pub Crawl in Chicago on April 18th. 2,375 people have added their email addresses to the contact list for the event. On January 30, a group of six Cincinnati gents had their own Snuggie Pub Crawl. According to Snuggiepubcrawls.com, similar events are scheduled for Nashville, San Diego, San Francisco, and Atlanta in the next month. (Why no northern cities? Isn't that where the cold is fiercest, where a Snuggie most needed?)
