Dunkin Donuts spies reward its commuting customers
Filed under: Food, Shopping, Transportation, Fantastic Freebies
Times are tough, and in tough times, you'll want a few extra dollars for doughnuts. Right?
Dunkin' Donuts' answer to this question is a resounding RIGHT! The company emailed us yesterday to let us know they're planning a stealth PR operation to deliver $5 gift cards to unsuspecting (and, I suppose, suspecting) customers. If you are caught by the "Latte spies" in the New York
area with a Dunkin' Donuts bag or cup, you'll be given a card, and four of you will receive $99 gift cards. We will trust you to spend that judiciously over a period of a few months...
The spies will be found on the streets of New York, Hicksville, Iselin, Secaucus and Hoboken as well as on the LIRR, the subway, New Jersey Transit and the Hoboken Ferry on Tuesday February 10th and Thursday February 12th.
The promotion is smart as well as fun; regular Dunkin' Donuts customers can proudly flaunt their purchases in hopes of receiving some freebies. Will anyone go out of his or her way to buy a Dunkin' coffee with the hope of getting a few dollars' worth of morning treats in return? As crazy as it sounds, I know I would if I were travelling to Penn Station next week. How about you?

I hope the New York crowd doesn't stampeed the spy and kill him like they did to the guy at Walmart. I wouldn't give those New Yorkers anything for free. Dunkin should pick anther state.

Oh, those same New Yorkers that rescued all those people out of the Hudson? Those same New Yorkers that travel all over the country to help put out wildfires and help rebuild after natural disasters?

Hey Wayne, stop bashing NYC, the greatest city on earth. Why shouldn't we get free stuff? Because someone got caught in a stampede in a Walmart that wasn't even located in NYC, but in Long Island? Should all the other states that have had tragedy be excluded too?

Our family has followed a Dunkin tradition since 1965. I live in Florida and when we drive to New England for a family stay, we always stop at Dunkin Donuts no matter what time of day and pick up a couple of dozen. Please come to Florida and give some money away. America DOES run on Dunkin'. Thanks

Dunkin Donuts really does have good coffee. They should expand into more of a coffee shop chain. I'd drive thru for coffee, but not the donuts-everyone's trying to eat healthier, right?
The real question is, Why single out NYC? Why not have this promotion in every state where there is a Dunkin Donuts? Why should New Yorkers get rewarded and no one else?

I have been a faithful Dunkin Donuts customer since 1955 and will continue to support them, but every time I get a chance I remind them that too many of their outlets are no longer offering the original 'Dunker"'. Whenever I find a store that offers the Dunker I get two and a cup of coffee. That is the perfect start to the day.

So your claim is that you have met and interviewed every New Yorker, and assessed them all to be selfish? You certainly have a lot of time on your hands.
And if we suck with a capital S, why did you use a lowercase one?
I don't know, your story reeks of inconsistency. Have you checked your sources?
