Starbucks to cut back on decaf

Text SizeAAA
To save money, Starbucks will stop brewing decaf after 12 p.m in an aggressive effort to save $400 million by September and cut back on product expenses and labor.

" For many of our stores, the demand for decaf is greatly reduced in the afternoon," the company said in a statement, according to Bloomberg. "With our current standard of continually brewing decaf after 12 p.m. regardless of demand, we have seen a high amount of waste."

Customers can still request a cup of decaf after the noon
cut-off time. Brewing a fresh cup of coffee takes four minutes, according to company spokeswoman Bridget Baker

Baristas will also be brewing less coffee every thirty-minutes to cut back on waste and will be using less milk in lattes and cappuccinos.

The Seattle-based company will also be closing more stores in the U.S. and in Australia.
