Porn industry wants a bailout

Banks, automakers and the porn industry. They don't sound like they go together, but they will if some leaders in the adult entertainment business can lobby Congress for a federal bailout.
CNN is reporting that Hustler publisher Larry Flynt and Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis plan to ask Congress for $5 billion for a bailout of the adult entertainment industry.
It sounds like a spoof and not a serious request, but they do plan to deliver the request to their congressmen and Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson. Both do, though, admit that the porn industry isn't in financial danger with DVD sales slipping but Web traffic growing.
"The take here is that everyone and their mother want to be bailed out from the banks to the Big Three," Flynt spokesman Owen Moogan told CNN. "The porn industry has been hurt by the downturn like everyone else and they are going to ask for the $5 billion. Is it the most serious thing in the world? Is it going to make the lives of Americans better if it happens? It is not for them to decide."
Francis said in a statement that "the U.S. government should actively support the adult industry's survival and growth, just as it feels the need to support any other industry cherished by the American people."
It sounds more like Flynt and Francis are looking for some attention. Maybe they should stick to their own businesses.

I've gotta disagree with you on this one, Aaron. While I'm not a huge fan of Joe Francis, Larry Flynt has definitely had an extensive second career as a political gadfly and satirist. In that context, this is a masterstroke. As it were.

The above sentence was a complete writing disaster.
*************************************************************************************
For your information:
THERE - This is an adverb meaning "that location" Example: The car is over THERE.
THEIR - This is a possessive pronoun. It always describes a noun.
It is the word you SHOULD have used. Example: The Ford is THEIR vehicle.
THEY'RE - This is a contraction for THEY ARE.
I shouldn't need an example for this one but since all of these words are taught in elementary school and adults, who should know better, keep using them improperly, I'll give one just in case. Example: They are going to the store OR They're going to the store.
Also, where you said taxpayers doesn't owe this bail ( OUCH! ), had you an education, you would have said " Taxpayers do not owe this bail" OR "Taxpayers don't owe this bail". It's another one of those contraction words. Are you from the mountains by any chance? Again, these are elementary school words. One would think that by the time people reached high school, these words would be easily recognized and therefore used properly.

TamiSueWho: I can't believe that you actually took the time to correct such errors instead of blasting the audacity and sick ways of the porn industry. Perhaps your priorities are in the wrong place. I think that the cancer that is spread by such a lack of morals within such a large portion of society is of more consequence and alarm than grammatical errors.

The point is that private industry should be responsible for it's self and if one industry gets a "hand out" from the government, then it should be availible to all without prejudice.

May not be as ridiculous as it sounds. The criminal activity of some in the banking, credit and investment industries has done more damage to society than a porn producer; especially recently. At least Larry Flint proved the hypocrisy of those politicians who tried to convict President Clinton of "high crimes and misdemeanors," when his "offense" had absolutely nothing to do with the security of the nation and that the bill of impeachment against him wasted taxpayer time and money when there were far more important issues to address.

They are afront of to a moral society. But if you look back in history, there will always be this type of "afront". You remove one, another replaces it. It's a matter of how it's handled and since we know both of these companies and are bored, they were quiet. I believe it is a scheme to get publicity, but do not give it to them. It's amazing what Joe has done to exploit drunk college girls in an effort to make himself rich. I watch my share of X-Rated movies, but not "Girls Gone Wild" for that reason.
Let them be and give them no attention and they will fade into the background again. I doubt that the porn industry is giving THOUSANDS of jobs with just these 2 companies. "Girls Gone Wild" is probably using 100 people if that and making billions. Ford and Chevy companies give THOUSANDS of jobs in America. You do the math.

I agree, porn should be banned from everywhere. It is the most disgusting thing I can think of. I happen to click on something one day that I had no idea was porn and it made me want to throw up.I hope they don;t get any money from anywhere so that they go under and never exist again.

I agree, Al. Why give money to a bunch of prostitutes who are so immoral? It doesn't make sense to me. Why should we bail out anyone who has made such horrendous financial mistakes? It's not our fault! And yes, the porn industry is the scab of humanity. Scratch it away and let our society heal!
