Price Is Right winner didn't cheat - he did his homework!
So how did Terry end up at $23,743? It turns out that Terry's perfect bid took a lot of knowhow and a little bit of luck. You see, appearing on The Price is Right wasn't something he did on a whim; Terry and his wife joined countless others in line outside the studio at 3 a.m. playing their own pricing games, while they waited to get into the show.
Terry has been following the show for quite a while, which is how he won $500 earlier in the episode by bidding the exact price of a ceramic egg cooker. Terry knew its price as well as the prices of two items in his showcase because they had made previous appearances on The Price is Right. This left the trailer, which Terry knew averaged $1,000 a foot getting him up to $23,000. By luck or chance, he blurted out,"743", before he knew what happened which earned him a spot in Game Show History.
During the chat Terry tells us that the only audience member he even paid attention to was his wife, who confirmed his initial arrival at $23,000. He also insisted that even if audience members had been yelling the correct price his hearing problem would have stopped him from hearing them clearly.
Terry was as shocked as anyone at the win, comparing the feeling to, "being dipped in Novacaine!" There you have it straight from Terry, the perfect bidder's own mouth, He didn't cheat!

I haven't watched this show in quite some time, does Drew Carey always seem so grumpy, or was he suspicious??

I think they go to commercial so they can adjust the price to whatever they want it to be.

I watched the show and was surprised by Drew's reaction. He is usually enthusiastic, in hoping that the contestant wins. He looked less than shocked and a bit annoyed by the exact bid. No real forethought on the contestant made me wonder also, as to whether or not it was a scam. Who knows, but the way it happened convinces me it needs investigating. I do remember the show when the woman was $30 away thinking she won both showcases but the other contestant it turns out, was only $29 away and ultimately won both. You have to feel a bit bad for the runners-up in each case!

The reason for Drews unexcited look is they held up the show for 30 to 45 minites to conferm there was no cheating. By the time they anounced the win the excitment was already over.

I agree with you, Drew Carey is a terrible game show Host, and after watching the Price is right for many years, me and my friends stopped watching the show. I hope they get someone else real soon to replace him or they are losing a lot of fans.

How long has this show been going on??? Over 30 years??? There is a good chance someone will guess the exact price of a showcase in that time. Why do you think people win lotteries? This guy had an educated guess that increased his odds.

ive tried watching the show for many months and i just can't warm up to Drew as a host. Bob was much better at the game, Drew has no personality and the announcer and models suck.

So what. He guessed the price of his showcase, and won the prize. This IS the challenge and the allure is it not??
I guess he is a target of those who are always jealous of those who have something they want and havent had the ambition to learn how to get.
Anyone who pays attention to this game can go to any store that sells the product and get a price range. The problem is that you do not know what products are going to be displayed in the episode until they are brought out.
Having said this, This individual paid attention to what he has already seen, and used experience to base his guess..... And you people say that is cheating???
Apparently a kid in school who knows the answers on his test because he studied and did his homework assignments is now a cheater....Thank you national teacher union for instiling a high education ethic.

i watched a report on how TPIR works - aproducer picks 9 contestants while veiwng in groups of four - some producers know the price of the contests - you can't really get a consistant choice of price on traveling trips - If I were a price is right exec, I would be checking out my own crew - maybe see if any have been in vegas, and something got out of vegas - let him have the prizes - give them to the womman also - ol Drew even comented on the very exact guess when he made it on the showcase before the price was shown - He seems to be oblivious to this- this is america and private tv can give away whatever the want - It would be nice to be fair, but it is their game - they can do what they want

For all you clowns bitching about Drew Carey viewing has gone up by 5% since he took over. If you watched the show before Bob Barker started getting crankier as he got older.

I lol'd
Drew needs time to settle in, work on the delivery, timing, stuff like that. It's a different world than improv and sit-coms. He's doing fine. I miss bob tons tho. Even liked watching him get cranky at some of the ramblers and just chronically dense.
"viewing has gone up by 5% since he took over"
That figure came directly out of your butt.

Oh yeah, this was about the cheating, wasn't it.
No, he wasn't. You finally figure out some way to cheat a game show with a world wide audience, you aren't going to do it in a way that's going to grab as much attention as an exact bid.
I'm sure like with any big business, they have ways they play with the books, start relationships with the suppliers, all that kind of stuff to get that little extra gravy, but contestant scams? If they do, this definitely wasn't one of them.
