Election Day freebies abound for voters: Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, Ben & Jerry's and much, much more
Filed under: Bargains, Fantastic Freebies
In the old days, politicians would try to buy votes. Nowadays, corporations are trying to buy your affection if you vote.Works for me.
You've probably seen on WalletPop or elsewhere in the media that some big national chains are giving away free stuff to anyone who votes (or says they voted).
So far, these are the major players in the game:
Starbucks: Giving away a free tall coffee to people with proof of voting (or a pledge of having voted)
Krispy Kreme: Giving away free star-shaped donuts with red, white and blue sprinkles (while supplies last) to people with an "I voted" sticker all day
Ben & Jerry's: Giving away a free scoop in any flavor from 5pm to 8pm to anyone who says they voted.
But there's much, much more... (and we're hoping you'll feel free to tell us what's free in your neighborhood for voters).
This is in no way a list of all of them, but here are some:
- Todd Conner's, a bar in Baltimore, will give voters a free beer. (I'm guessing 18-20 year-old voters are disqualifed.)
- Selected Chick-fil-A locations will be offering free chicken sandwiches on Election Day to anyone with an "I Voted" sticker, and also giving away items on Nov. 5 for those who bring in lawn signs, but check first, to see if your local store is in on the deal.
- Rock the Vote is offering free song downloads to anyone who pledges to vote
- To its first 300 customers at each location, Shane's Rib Shack will give away a free "Vote America meal," which are chicken tenders and a beverage.
- Anaheim White House, a restaurant in California, are giving voters a free bottle of champagne. The catch seems to be that you have to order the $44 meal that comes with it.
- At Zov's, a three-restaurant chain, also in California, they're giving away a free slice of apple pie to anyone who votes.
- The Atlanta Zoo are cutting admission prices to half price on November 4 for voters and their families.
- In Chicago, at the restuarant Park 52, guests showing a receipt for voting will receive a free red, white and blue dessert--as in, red velvet cake with white cream cheese frosting and fresh blueberries.
- In Troy, Michigian, the Hot Spot Coffee Company will be giving out free 12-ounce cups of coffee to customers on November 4.
- And Babeland, an adult sex toy store in New York, Los Angeles and Seattle, is giving away, um, some free toys to anyone who says that they're voting.
- A Dallas tattoo-removal specialist is offering a free consultation to getting a tattoo removed.
- Even more deals are listed at slickdeals.net

As a social worker I see things that you could not even imagine seeing on a daily basis. I see homeless families struggling to find food and shelter. I see the single mother overcoming addiction and struggling to find a job to take care of her children. I see those with severe mental health disorders completely and totally unable to function the way YOU want them to. 99% of these people would choose a different life if they could. They were not given an easy life...and most did not ask to be where they are.
But people like you have no empathy...no form of understanding for others. Not everyone is dealt a good hand. People don;t want freebies...they want a system that can help them LIVE...not just survive.

No one wants any freebies you ignorant pricks! This is why most are voting for Obama because we are tired of the narrow thinking of most of you repubs who are power seeking, greedy individuals who wants to continue to divide the world. I have a job, an education, but this still does not afford me the opportunity to live a comfortable life. I am still struggling. This is not about handouts, its about being able to have the same or equal opportunities as everyone else. I guess as long as we are feeding our hard earned money into big corporations and greedy wall streeters, everything is all gravy. NOT!!

It's hard to believe that all we can focus on is freebies. Do these people that want the freebies even know what Obama's other platforms are.....doubtful....they want the working people to pay thier mortgage and give them a check each month.....get off your a__ and work like the rest of us. You know Cuba wanted change in 1959...they got it....and all the hard working people fled to the United States....with them they brought the clothes on their back and the education in their minds. They found work and continued working. If Obama gets elected, it could be you moving.

i have heard so much crap about what Obama is supposed to do for the "under priveleged" and while I agree there needs to be more changes, I dont think taking from someone who has worked and gotten advanced education and earned the pay is the right answer. Yes, those less fortunate should be assisted. Help them get an education, help them find employment. And those incapable of that by physical means should be getting more. And if lazy americans standing there with their hands out would quit trying to get over on the government, it would leave more for those who actually do need it. I have had to get assistance, but i used it to get a job and better myself, not assist me in sitting at home while the government paid me. I know so many people who work under the table and dont claim that money, who sell drugs while getting assistance and just dont even care. Real change is what we need, not another handout for lazy people!

i AM WITH YOU --FREEBIES FOR THE NON WORKERS AND TAKING AWAY FROM ME WHAT I WORK HARD TO EARN...THAT IS NOT THE AMERICAN DREAM I HAD IN MIND WHEN I WENT TO COLLEGE AND TOOK UP A TRADE. EVERYONE HAS THE SAME DOORS TO CHOOSE FROM SO WHY BECAUSE I MADE SOMETHING OF MYSELF SHOULD I GIVE UP TO THOSE WHO DON'T WANT TO WORK FOR IT! I HAVE LOST MY JOB AND I WENT OUT AND FOUND ANOTHER ONE--NOBODY EVER SAID LIFE WILL BE EASY BUT I NEVER SAT WAITING ON SOMEBODY ELSE TO TAKE CARE OF ME. I BELIVE IN HELPING THOSE WHO CAN'T HELP THEMSELVES BUT NOT IN SUPPORT OF LAZY, FREELOADERS WHO DO NOT TRY! JOBS ARE OUT THERE IF YOU LOOK, MONEY IS THERE TO BE EARNED IF YOU WORK. YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT YOURSELF--I WON'T CARE ABOUT YOU EITHER!

Um, don't you think the people voting for Mcain will want to enjoy the free coffee and chicken sandwich, if they have the opportunity to do so? Seriously, who is it hurting?

I think the donuts are a nice jester to promote voting for those that want to vote. However, don't allow this to sway your vote. Stay true to yourself. Stand for what you feel is best.

I think, we as America's need to become more involved in electing our leaders, than we have in the past. When we get the likes of George W. in the White House, we should be ashamed of ourselves.
Frredom is only as important as we strive to defent it, and thumbing our nose at the world and doing what we wanted in Iraq put us in this shape we are in.
God Bless America, may freedom and Obama ring tomorrow.

You must never have been a military spouse. We wait at home for our loved ones to come home to us after taking care of you ungratful people. No one likes war but I guess it will be okay when it come over here and smacks you in the face. As for the buy back it stinks. Any way you look at it. All I hear is people bitch about this and that but no one has a real plan to fix the problem, just to add to the problem. Either you voted or you didn't. Who ever gets into office isn't going to have it easy. So Please, People, stop bitching and get out there and do something about the problem yourselves by not charging on the charge cards and getting jobs they are out there. You don't have to be at the top of the line we all have to start at the bottom to get to the top.

Give me a break! Why does EVERYTHING have to be so divisive? Maybe these companies are reflecting the feeling of most people in this country... that the most important thing is for people to get out and vote. Nobody is giving away freebies for voting for a certain candidate.... these are nonpartisan freebies that are celebrating our democracy. Please, if you have nothing intelligent to say, and all you can do is dump on one of the candidates, just keep it to yourself!

I agree with Ree. It's all about just getting out and voting. None of these companies have said if you vote for McCain you get this, if you vote for Obama, you get this, it's just please get out and vote, everyone makes a difference :)
