Fantastic Freebies: Love your mom and get a free movie rental
Filed under: Fantastic Freebies
How could you go wrong? Birds Eye Voila is sponsoring a giveaway to promote the value of moms (and the company's easy-to-prepare frozen pasta dishes). All you have to do is fill out a form and attach a digital photo of your favorite mom -- it doesn't really have to be your mom. You will be asked for a 30- to 250-word essay on why you love the mom you are submitting. In exchange, you'll get a coupon for a free movie rental from Blockbuster. Surprisingly enough, the company is not giving away a free taste of its product, but you can click on a button on the left navigation for a $1 off coupon.

Most Blockbuster free-rental coupons are only good for movies from its "favorites" department, i.e. not recent movies, but movies that nobody wants to see any more anyway. I have more of these coupons than I know what to do with.
There is no good definition of when a movie goes from being a "new release" to being a "favorite". Spiderman 3 is still a new release, even though they only have one copy and it came out in, oh, 1978 I think. And Blockbusters are so small now, the chances of them having any favorites that you haven't seen are astronomically small.
