Tuesday is the cheapest day to buy gas, study finds

We've all become a lot more interested in the secret science of what determines gas prices. The Cincinnati Enquirer just painstakingly analyzed price data from 716 gas stations in May and June using the Oil Price Information Service. Their most peculiar and potentially useful finding was that gas is cheapest on Tuesdays.
Over the whole period among all those stations, gas was an average three cents a gallon cheaper on Tuesdays than Wednesdays, and once it jumped 16 cents overnight. The Enquirer found that Wednesday was the day stations raised prices for the upcoming weekend, and that they lowered it just after the weekend.
The Enquirer says gas mavens have known this all along, though it was certainly news to me. If gas stations are expecting to even out their demand with pricing, will it work if people don't understand the weekly cycle? The story says: "Experts say gas always has been cheapest midweek, when demand is lowest. But the exact cheapest day is likely to change at any moment, without notice...." So, if we all start buying on Tuesdays, the cheapest day will move.

ITS TRUE. I noticed this along time ago. They take advantage of the weekends whenpeople are off work and going to activities or filling up for the next work week. And they get aaway with it. Go to gasbuddy.com you can check the price of ll the gasstations daily or hourly in your own town to see who has the better deal. OH and Obama says to inflate your tires to proper air tosave gas. LOL seriously it is true but funny. You can save3-4% for real.

The Gas stations by me are all thieves. I drove by one of them 3 times in a day, and each time (about 2 months ago) he raised it by 4 cents or more. 16 cents in a matter of 3 hours ? Something wrong with that. They are quick to jump the prices, but very slow to reduce them.
This one station raise prices on a thursday to hit all the tourists coming for the weekend, and lowers it on mondays after they are gone.That should be outlawed. I drive out of my way not to patronize this thief.

American's don't really care what they pay for fuel or they would all be locked on cruise at the posted limit. Personally, I don't care how anybody else drives, I'm getting my monies worth for every fuel buck
