McDonald's Southern-styled sandwich can't be given away?
Is McDonald's having trouble moving its "so simple, so juicy, so perfectly seasoned" Southern-style chicken and biscuit breakfast sandwich? Or its regular-menu Southern-style chicken sandwich? Perhaps. But if you're in the Washington, D.C. area, you can find out if its worth your money (and the considerable amount of simple carbs you'll consume) tomorrow, Thursday, July 24 with the purchase of a medium- or large-sized beverage. The biscuit sandwich offer will be good 7 a.m. through 10:30 a.m. (McDonald's typical breakfast ending time) and then the chicken sandwich will be available for free with purchase through 7 p.m. This is a repeat of a nationwide offer from May; McDonald's has been repeating the offer in local markets in a (desperate?) attempt to shore up sales for the new menu item, even offering the sandwich free for pajama-clad customers in one Florida market.
If you hit the breakfast sandwich, you can check out the premium coffee at the same time. Sales for the pricey caffeine have been slower than expected so you may not have this chance for long!
Have you tried the sandwich? What did you think? If you're in the D.C. area, will you wait in line for it tomorrow?

Neither the biscuit not the sandwich tastes good. It's that simple.

The sandwich is a big disappointment. It's dry and lacks flavor. i tried one for beakfast and wished I had stuck to my sausage biscuit or egg MacMuffin. With those Mcdonald got it right.

I have never tasted one, have wanted to, but for some reason, just haven't. I know, that doesn't make sense.
It is actually not with mayo, it is chicken, BUTTER, and pickles. It is suppose to be real good.
I asked the same question, does it come with gravy? They should have gravy on the side for dippin it, that would make a big difference in their sales, I think. Especially marketing it as southern style.. Needs Gravy!!!

My mother and I tried the sandwich last night, had a buy 1 get one free coupon. It was the worst sandwhich ever! Basically it was dried out chicken on a roll with a pickel. Went to the counter to ask for something else to put on it. They said it came with a butter sauce on the roll. It must have been left off but even with the mayo that I added it was bad!

Tried one out for the first time two days ago. Took one bite and tossed it. Very disgusting and bland indeed. Even McDonalds Angus burgers suck. Ever since they came out with the Arch Deluxe in the mid 90's, their menu items have drastically gone downhill. Bring back the old "large" McRib with the onions and BBQ sauce. I remember those from the late 80's.

I am highly amused at the recent rush to compete with Chick-Fil-A's utterly perfect chicken biscuit (and chicken sandwich). First KFC, now McDonald's...and both fall very short. I tried the McDonald's biscuit version the day it was free with drink purchase and ended up throwing most of it away.
The actual biscuit was good but the chicken was dry and had an odd breading. The overall flavor was somewhere between dry blandness and disgusting. I'm leaving the Chicken Biscuit to Chick-Fil-A...and perhaps Bojangle's!

I've always loved the bisquit. I really like the chicken. But together they need something . . . a dollup of gravy perhaps on each side of the chicken.

I like the sandwich, but I agree that it needs a condiment of some sort. It could be improved with mayo, I think.

I found the biscut sandwich to be too dry and overly spicy.

To me, this sandwich tastes exactly like the Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich. I don't know if you can find Chick-Fil-A nationwide, but they are the only other restaurant I have found where a butter-and-pickles-and-chicken sandwich is considered normal.

This is the worst sandwich I've ever had from McD's. Not since the carrageenan-based McLean Deluxe has such an atrocity been seen!
I've had yummy biscuit chicken sandwiches before. These are not them.
Dry, pickle, yuck. That about sums it up.

Just knew there would be a discussion covering this subject. What did you expect? After seeing their commercial, I can't imagine anyone would run out and order one. Now they have the fake Olympic athletes promoting it like it's the Gold Metal. What's that all about? Bread, chicken and a pickle? The sound of it makes my mouth water... Not! Sorry, MickeyD, I haven't tried one, nor do I intend to.
