Outfitting an apartment on a budget? Try Home Reserve!

Between the sofa that I inherited from my parents and the chairs that I accumulated in Virginia thrift stores, I've never really needed to worry about furniture all that much. However, now that the sofa has died an honorable death and we're living in a new place, my wife has put her foot down: we need to buy new furniture. Of course, we'll probably end up going the IKEA route. Their pieces are fairly durable and looks nice, although a bit generic. My wife really likes the EKTORP series loveseats. Personally, I think that "EKTORP" sounds like the noise a cat makes when it's vomiting, but I have to admit that the furniture is blandly appealing. On the bright side, the slipcovers are really reasonable, which is a pretty big selling point, given that our 2-year old daughter has juice-spilling issues.
On the other hand, we recently came across HomeReserve.com. Like IKEA, HomeReserve sells furniture that is designed for self-assembly. It comes in a wide array of fabrics and colors, and (supposedly) only requires a screwdriver to put together. Also, like IKEA, Home Reserve sells an array of slipcovers. On the other side, Home Reserve's lines are all designed for shipping, and their costs are surprisingly reasonable. Best of all, their prices are significantly less than IKEA's.
Definitely something to think about...

Before you buy from either of those two stores, check out Simplicity Sofas. They sell mostly online, although they do have a showroom in High Point, NC.

I have had great luck with this manufacturer that sells high-quality, affordable furniture direct to the public. I have done comparison shopping and prefer them.
I have several condos and do design work for clients who are buying condos for rental purposes and I love this product. There are 5 types of seating, from full size sofas to apartment sofas, loveseats, chairs and storage ottomans. There is more than 50 fabrics to choose from, as well as pet proof, "kid proof" fabrics and slipcovers. Made in the USA, the bases are made of solid oak and there are NO TOOLS required to set up the product. The product ships in 2 or 3 boxes and I can assemble the sofas in less than 15 minutes. The buyer can choose from 5 different collections; traditional to transitional to contemporary.
You should really check them out. I believe the sofas start at $599 and once assembled, look and feel like showroom quality pieces. Plus the frames have a lifetime warranty. Let me know if you have any luck!

My husband and I purchased a sofa from Home Reserve.com about 2 weeks ago and we absolutely love it! Our sofa only cost $299 for shipping and $57 for shipping. We were looking at Simplicity Sofas but $599 for the sofa and $175 for the shipping seemed a bit steep. After ordering we received our Sofa in a week, super fast! We didn't want to wait 2-6 weeks for our furniture from Simplicity Sofa. The only problem I had was there was a broken part broken by UPS during shipping. I called customer service, spoke to a real person right away!, and they sent out the replacement part overnight! I really value quality customer service and products; that is what I got with Home Reserve!
