New laws require Appraisers to report any recent prior sales of a property to determine if someone's just bought it and are now trying to "Flip" it for a quick profit...You know, like the cable TV series 'Flip This House'....When Real Estate fraud is being taught on a TV series whatta ya expect ?

Fraud??? more like an internal problem with the banking industry.

Hoolianama05 02:37:51 PM Aug 26 2008

A large part of it is the crooked mortgage brokers swindling the uniformed, hopeful home buyers! They know upfront that consumers have no money because they push the NO Document loans! They are also in bed with dishonest appraisers who inflate the value of the house and then together they cash out for themselves. Once they have exhausted one state, they move on to another, leaving many homeowners facing foreclosure. Florida was going through this way before the media even heard about the housing crisis.

Blame it on the consumer, aren't they suppose to check ones employment, income, and assets, before giving the loan?Pass-the -buck like the whole administration has.

What do you expect? When shit hit the fan Florida is number one.

It isn't the "poor down and out" getting defrauded. It's borrowers defrauding the lenders. Or, as the old saying goes, "It's not that lawyers are bad, its that they have such evil and wicked clients".

We are all just going to have to accept accountability for ourselves. There is no such thing as a 'free lunch'. Know what debt you can handle before making any commitments. We are our own advocates!

conmen and hucksters kept Jeb Bush in power in Florida ...ain't deregulation great for the crooks running bid-ness these days!

KHOD3 01:13:24 AM Aug 26 2008

I love Florida for the climate but it's getting crazy now compared to back in the 1950's. Crowded and still the scam state but hey the alligators will survive! Fishing is still the best and Clearwater Beach is still the best beach. No matter what people do Minnesota will never be Florida.
